Cragun's Legacy Courses—Unforgettable Golf and Exceptional Value

The 55 hole Cragun's Legacy Courses have the distinction of being selected from among the many excellent courses in the Midwest as the “#1 Golf Course of the Year” by the Midwest Golf Course Owners Association.

The two championship courses at the Legacy have been uniquely designed as masterpieces of golfing challenge by one of the world’s top golf course architects—Robert Trent Jones, Jr. From five up to eleven sets of tees per hole provide unmatched variety, allowing both expert and inexperienced players alike to revel in their design. Greens and fairways are generously proportioned. Both the 18-hole Dutch Legacy and 19-hole Bobby’s Legacy courses (including the “Gamblers Hole”) are Minnesota’s only internationally-designed championship courses to offer this unmatched level of play flexibility.

Following the tradition of legendary golf course design handed down by his famous father, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., “Bobbie” has created a golf facility of world-class quality and beauty. Applauded as the “Father of Environmental Golf,” “Bobbie” practices minimalist architecture, moving as little of the earth as possible. Surrounded by 1,000 acres of pristine wilderness, Jones designed the land’s natural woods, water and wetlands into one of the most memorable golfing experiences. Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Your Legacy experience is enhanced by the courses’ setting in the world’s largest Audubon Signature Sanctuary. The courses surround a 104-acre lake and encompass a waterfall plus 1,450 feet of bridges over natural wetlands

Prior to groundbreaking, Cragun's committed themselves to earning Audubon International’s highest honor as a Signature Sanctuary. Only golf courses that have followed the stringent "Signature Program" guidelines and develop an extensive Natural Resource Management Plan, can be granted this esteemed recognition. Cragun's Legacy Courses are the second resort golf course in the U.S. to gain this honor and the first ever in the Midwest. Audubon International recognized the Legacy as “One of the Best Environmental Golf Courses in the World.”

GPS Carts Make Golf More Enjoyable

Hi-tech ProLink golf carts with the Acutrak global positioning system has revolutionized the amount of golf information available during a game. Each cart’s on-board GPS screen displays the layout of each hole, hazards and distance from your ball to the flag. Cragun's Legacy is one of few golf courses in Minnesota with this advanced golfing technology.

One of MN’s Best Courses For Group Play

Cragun's Legacy Courses are ideally designed for group and tournament play. Both the Dutch and Bobby’s Legacy courses connect each other at the clubhouse, so groups can play the two 18-hole courses per day without having to travel. And our unique, Legacy Par 3 Course is right in the golfing complex if you’re in a hurry or want to practice your iron play. This reversible 18-hole course is a truly unique concept in golf with two 9-hole courses with 18 tees and 11 greens. Each 9-hole is played alternate days as clockwise and counterclockwise. Plus, our adjacent driving range and full-service practice area lets you get your swings in before the game.

The Clubhouse can accommodate groups of up to 270 in the Pavilion plus 152 in the dining area for golf banquets, award dinners or other event receptions. The second level Audubon room featuring majestic views of tees and waterfalls hosts smaller events.

The Robert Trent Jones Legacy

Internationally recognized golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr., following the traditions of legendary golf course design handed down by his famous father, has created a course of world-class quality and beauty. Woven through majestic forests and set among the wetlands is a golfing experience unparalleled anywhere in the Midwest.

The two championship 18-hole and a reversible 9-hole course are a masterstroke of golf course architecture, blending both challenge and flexibility into a facility with universal appeal to golfers.

The Legacy's opening holes offer a welcoming appeal with broad fairways and confidence-building options. As the holes lengthen, everyone from the most skilled shot-maker to the beginning golfer will need to "think" their way around the course, as the risk-reward options increase.

The path continues to wind through hardwood and pine forests until unveiling its most cherished views: the shoreline holes along the lake. If the golfer can negotiate the water-framed holes properly, short iron approaches yielding birdies and pars are the rewards.

The Audubon International Legacy

The Audubon International Legacy Prior to groundbreaking, Cragun's was committed to achieving Signature Sanctuary Status with Audubon International. Only golf courses that have followed the stringent "Signature Program" guidelines and develop an extensive Natural Resource Management Plan, can be granted this esteemed recognition. We are the second resort golf course in the world to gain this honor and the first ever in Minnesota.

The legacy of our labor is a 1,000 acre sanctuary, with courses that provide a setting of serene, protected, natural beauty that will be preserved for the ages, enabling a sense of solitude as you are enveloped in the "North Woods."   There is a chance you'll catch a glimpse ofInternational Audubon Society deer, ruffed grouse, beaver and squirrels scurrying about their homeland. Bald eagles and osprey are frequent visitors to the Legacy's pristine lake and our many wetlands are the resting places of great blue herons, geese, kingfishers and a variety of ducks.

The Cragun's Legacy

Through the years we have become large enough to offer all the great meals, outstanding lodging and conference facilities you'll need, yet personal enough to make you feel like a friend. We've been making friends and memories since 1940!

Our award-winning resort will continue to grow in golf and excellence where our quality service is second to none.

The Dutch "Colf" Legacy

Historically, "colf" had its first early beginnings on the frozen canals and roadways of Holland in the 13th century. So, there could be no better place to play "Dutch Ice Colf" than at Cragun's in northern Minnesota.
